ship yard and building...

Ok, bare with me here cuz i just purchased the game today, and played it for a whopping half hour at most... would have liked to play more, but i've never had a game that required this much micromanagement. ANYWAY, i tried building a ship in the shipyard... the problem is that after i set the first part into it's place, none of the following parts would stick. Every time i moved my mouse, the part would follow. How do i correct this? I figured that just left clicking would cement it into place... but no. the manual is a little vague on usage, just stating that, yes, i can build custom ships... is there an indexed tutorial or help section? SOMETHING? i'm so confused....

thx,

-the noob.

Right click to release the part from the mouse, if you don't won't to apply it anywhere else. Left clicking will apply it to one of the red hardpoints that will be showing on the hull.

Just to clarify,,to mount a piece to the ship,,you need to set the tip of the mouse pointer on a red hardpoint.

If you do that and still can't get the part to stick,,try rotating the ship a bit for better access to the hardpoint.

There is only limited space on a hull. that means, if you put on of the first missles on a tiny hull there won't be enoug space for anything else. There is a bar at the top of the screen that shows, how much space is used and left.

Just to clarify... there is only limited space on a hull for active components. However you can put as many structural components on the ship as you like, there is no limit.
