I'm not sure what you are trying to ask, Danielost. You cannot upgrade from one hull size to another, if that is what you mean.

i'm not sure what you mean either?

Upgrade problems will only happen if you try to upgrade one of the standard ships or if you try to upgrade from different hull siezes.

Be aware that if you decide to change the name of a ship or a ship design, this can lead to upgrade confusion in various ways if you loose track of what your doing.

if you had looked at the upgrade pic you would have noticed that the ship being up graded was mother ship 1 where is the mother ship 1 in the upgrade list to the left

this is why i included the screen shot

i added more and better engines to the ship and then had to go out to the map to upgrade the ships becouse this screen isn't allowing you to upgrade here

Do not name your upgraded ship with the same name as the previous version.

why not just fix the bug in this screen

I do not believe this is a bug. Name your new design with the new engines mother ship 2, instead of mother ship 1, and see what happens.

No, giving a new name will prevent the automatic fleet update from working and you will be forced to upgrade all your ships individually, bad idea Mistralok.

FYI you could just tick the 'upgrade all ships of this type' box in the upgrade dialog, rather than upgrading them one-by-one.

And if you are currently building ships with the name Mothership 1, then go to the shipyard and upgrade Mothership 1 and name the upgrade Mothership 2, all the ships building Mothership 1 will revert to building Mothership 2.

And personally, I do not find it that much of a bother to create the upgraded ship, then exit the ship builder, select one of the old design and then use the 'Upgrade All Ships of This Type" option.

You can do this of course, I only do it if i didn't happen to have enough money to upgrade my whole fleet with the design improvement. but it is still much better to use the same name for upgrading. Saves confusion, is simpler, easier and you don't have to keep deleting old designs.

I will remember this, Mystic, in case I ever want to go down the path of conquest. I play as a diplomat, and only keep enough ships in my fleet to keep the AI from breathing down my neck. Later on in the game, things tend to get a little tighter and more tense, and I generally have to build up my fleet rather quickly. By this time, though, I am pretty far up the tech tree, and the ships I build at that time are usually sufficient to get me through to the end of the game.

Thanks, Moose. This is what I meant to say; rereading my post I didn't even come close to getting my point across.
