quick question about buying gal civ as opposed to the drengin.net package

guys quick q: Im currenty under the impression that yuo can either buy Galactic Civilizations alone, or buy it with the whole drengin.net package including the corporate machine and such; in both cases though, you have a one year subscription of sorts such that you get the updates for a year. Is this correct, or are the subscriptions limited to those who buy drengin.net ?
thanks...

As far as I'm aware you get 1 year of GalCiv updates no matter how you purchase the game, whether its retail or direct, GalCiv alone or Drengin.net. :)

Based on the terms given when I subscribed to drengin.net 18 months ago, if you buy Galciv alone, you get a one year subscription to Galciv. If you buy Drengin.net, you get a 1 year subscription to all of the games in Drengin.net (which includes Galciv). Either subscription period starts on the date Galciv ships (which we all now know is 3/26).

i guess it depends, i think what it is really pointing at that you will get at LEAST 1 whole year of updates and support which is a lot more than most games offer, how successful this is will depend on how long they continue to provide 100%

I seem to recall Stardock stating that the subscription is for a full year and after that there is a "renual" fee that is somewhat less than the original price. I don't see that as a biggy right now, because there has been talk of a version 2 of galciv, which would be a whole new product with a new subscription period.

I would expect some updates from this publisher until shortly before GalCiv II. A sequel to this sequel is likely as I am seeing it in all the right and wrong places online. I'd bet money on there being a GalCiv II. Of course I would bet money on anything. Where's the dice?
