PBEM Games

I really don't have a point other than to say that this is a great game & I still don't like small ships. Perhaps after a few games at higher levels I'll change my tune. Who knows?

PBEM games can be fun but they can be frustrating. I was playing GARY GRIGSBY'S WORLD AT WAR (I would link it but you can search the game just as easy) and the PBEM kinda let me down. I was playing three games & one opponent was kicking my butt & quit sending me his turn and I have no idea why.

The second opponent sent me a nasty email. I had beat him twice & he got the upper hand in the third game & I missed a couple days sending him a turn & he got nasty. He was like "So you only play when you are winning?" So I told him I had been away & he does not reply. What's that all about?

The third game I tell my opponent I'm a female and he completely changes his personality. After I beat his ass he is like "Well I held back because you are a girl." What the hell is that?

The attitude your getting is the same reason I don't do multiplayer online of pretty much any type. Too many jerks and sore losers out there.

Oh gee.How about letting him know your going to be absent for a while and won't make be making any moves.You fail to show him a little courtesy and balk at his reaction because your not moving.Social skills ae important.

In that game we were playing it can take a while to make a move. Up to an hour or 2 or 3 in my case. So that means one turn per day. I thought my opponents understood that. & what about the people that just vanish? No reply to my "I'm not trying to rush you. Just want to know if you are still there" emails.

I haven't actually sat down for a game of chess in a long while, so I don't believe my skills would be very good either.

I do play Team fortress online, but that is totally different. If someone is a jerk you can simply be on the other team and get a little satisfaction when their remains are splattered all over the place  . I have tried some rts's online 1 vs 1 years ago, but found either sore winners or sore losers. I'm not sure which is worse, so I limited my online play to local friends. If they try to disconnect on me, I can drive over to their house and club'em.

I agree though, that there are a lot of bad people that you end up playing with in multi-player games. I also tried RTS's, and I ended up losing every time, usually through cheese tactics in the first 5 minutes. Now, when I play a game I would rather spend more time PLAYING the game than setting up one. And then there are FPS hackers....don't get me started on them.

Generally the only multi-player games I play now are EQ2, WoW, maybe CS:S or DoD:S and then WC3 on occasion with a group of friends (Dark Deeds and Murder in the Mansion ftw).

I'm game. Are you talking about by email or at a site like yahoo or something? I haven't tried any of those before, so I may need a little direction to get started.

I don't play a lot of PBEM games. I did play one called Laser Squad Nemesis. The community is small, but AWESOME, especially if you go to the forum to find players. They run all sorts of learning games, and they set up their own program to train new players. There are projects, like writing game reports to give newbies tips. I would really recommend it to people. In fact, now that I have some time off work I may resub. Damn you for making me crawl back like some dirty crack-whore!! lol
