creating png's

I am new to a lot of this stuff and I was wondering how I could make my own png's for object dock. I have Microsoft Digital Image Standard 2006 Editor, Photo Impression 4, Irfanview, and Paint. I've tried many ways (including using Irfanview to save as png- save transparent color, but I just get "fuzzy" edges). Help please!

I use paint.net, it's free and works well. I don't have the programs you mentioned, so I'm not sure why they might not be working right. Here's a link to paint.net if you're interested WWW Link

The only time I get fuzziness is when I screw up in paint.net.

Give it a try, how can it hurt?

Rather than save as png's to use on OD...I make Icons using icon developer. Sometimes you luck out and don't have to do any " tubing " in paint .net at all. You just right click on any jpeg or gif etc and it will say in menu " create icon with icon developer"
Icon Developer will give the option to choose what color to make transparent. Then I use my newly made icon on my OD.

I've been using GIMP for a couple years now & it does quite well for me.

If you're creating your own the best advice I've ever received is to work in multiples of your target image. For a 256 png I usual work in a 1024 grid with a 24px border. Then scale it down.

Do you mean working in multiple layers? I am also trying to use GIMP as well. How do you set/create a 1024 24px border grid?

Cool! Thanks Bichur! I was trying to find that! I had to use FF to download...wouldn't work in Explorer for some reason.

You're welcome.

Been posting another link to it at DA off and on, from one of the other forums sites. The original post was by the creator with a download link, but that link went dead a while back. Everytime I find one I like I bookmark it. Still have active links to get Giffy2.3 and MSGifanimator.
