How many turns on average until you have communications with other Species?

Diplomancy will likely be the most interesting aspect for myself. So I was wondering how many turns or how much time will pass before I will start having some interesting dicisions to make in relation to the opposition?

Bye the way, I finally had the chance to play some MOO3. And felt that if their were more diplomacy early on it would of breathed a lot more life into it. They have a lot on the ball there. But whether the developers are willing to do a whole lot of work to make the game fun is yet to be proven. If it ain't fun, it ain't my game. Too many good out there, frankly I expect a game to grab me.

Well in order tol be able to talk to aliens you need to have a Universal Trabslator(hehe). It is only 2 techs away from the start*maby 10 months to get both... depends) and I usually go for it right away so when I meat the aleins I know what they are saying...

Once you have this Diplomacy really starts to open up... if you get a tech the aliens want they will come to you and ask to trade sometimes, if they want to demand tribute or give you a gift they come to you(You can also goto them to start they dealings).

Blade, how early you encounter alien races depends on quite a few factors, including:

1) What is the size of the galaxy you are playing?

2) How many AIs are you playing against?

3) Luck

In the release version, I have seen there are other settings that can affect this as well, like Star Dispersement: How close together are all of the stars (like selecting land masses in Civ). You can a have a pretty good chance of meeting a minor race early on regardless of map size, which can be a good early base for trade and diplomacy (let them reserach the basic weapon and defense techs, and then trade for them while you research more interesting techs).

Once you play a few games, you will be able to determine what kind of game you like. If you like to meet the other AIs in the first three or four turns, you can do it. If you like to be mostly on your own for a while to build a solid base, you can do that, too.

I should also mention here that the Diplomacy throughout the game adds so much FUN and addiitonal strategy elements. I have never played a TBS game that has this level of USEFUL diplomacy in it (and I have only played the Beta!)
