A HINT OF PINK

After Neil Gaiman...

I have been reading a lot lately. Mostly fiction and a lot of it by Neil Gaiman. His latest short story collection, 'Fragile Things', has really inspired me. Following is one such example of this inspiration. Expect more:

A HINT OF PINK

Just a dash,
A tease, a glance
Enough for me
To take a chance
To ask a question
To raise a smile
To garner a look
And make it worthwhile

Just a smidgen
A byte, a bit
Much to much
For me to resist
Charms and wiles
Heavy lashed eyes
A curtain of threads
Hiding trembling thighs

So...

Under my left hand
I feel her lips quiver
Under my right
Her hearts beats fast
I can see passion
In her wide eyes
But like all before her
I know it won’t last

For the moment
I am happy giving
This wonderful new love
A momentary life
For the time being
I am pleased and sated
With a hint of pink
On the edge of my knife

Thanks, Tova. I wasn't sure about this, to be quite honest but thought I'd post it just to see how you all react.

Hope you and yours are well and happy.

A Hint of Brilliance if you ask me. This was cool, Maso! Especially the "twist" at the end. You really oughta write a book!

Very cool.

Some years back I was dating a woman who was a big Tori Amos fan, which means I started to hear a lot of her music. She mentioned a 'Neil' in some of her songs, so I asked, "Who's Neil? Is that her man?" She didn't know. Years later I find out she was talking about Neil Gaiman. I never read him, but maybe I should give him a try.

Thanks mate.

Neil Gaiman and Tori Amos are close friends. He has written stories inspired by her music, has written pieces for her tour programs and she returns the favour by mentioning him in song. I think Tori is one of his daughter's godmother, or something like that. He is one of my most favourite authors, a man with a true gift, who has written comics (the Sandman series), movies, short stories, novels, poems and song lyrics. He consistently inspires me.

I can recommend his short story collection 'Smoke and Mirrors' as a good starting point.

I liked the twist too! It painted quite a picture! It's not too dark and is a bit different from what you write......like it!

Serenity,

Neil Gaiman is proving to be a bigger inspiration than I thought. One of the things I most like about him is his ability to be able to write in a multitude of styles. Some of his stories are gritty, pulp fiction pieces, some are really flowery, gothic pieces and others are something different again.

I'm glad you liked it. I didn't want it to be too dark, but I knew I wanted it to twist and suprise the reader.
