Following Wahoo Studios, Electronic Arts has also decided to bring the idea of Booster Packs back to the forefront of a gamer's mind with a new pack for their popular Sci-Fi FPS, Battlefield 2142. Northern Strike will see the series' ice age conflict move north into the frozen stretches of Europe.
EA promises to offer players three new maps, new vehicles and 10 additional unlockables for players to earn. More information, a gameplay trailer and details regarding the beta are expected later today.
[UPDATE] The official EA press release has nailed down the Northern Strike booster pack to March 2007 and filled in some additional blanks. The three maps are to be “the infamous WWII battle scene at the Bridge at Remagen, an Alpine Titan docking harbour in Port Bavaria and a claustrophobic showdown in the Liberation of Leipzig.” EA also went on to detail some of the vehicles that DICE will be displaying in Northern Strike, including “the EU's heavily armed IFV Goliath and the PAC's hovering light IFV Hachimoto.”
