Neutrality Bug?

When you choose Neutral as your ethical alignment, all terraforming tiles are to become available on all your worlds, however, they do not. I just finished a quick game and I had to research all the terraforming techs in order to use every available tile.

If this has already been covered I apologize, I haven't been able to play until recently and haven't kept up with this forum.

I think the earlier implementation was that Neutral gave you all terraformable tiles regardless of your tech, but it was since changed so that you have to get the appropriate tech to get the tiles. It's still a massive bonus in my view, but no longer makes it unnecessary to research the tech.

Yup! In DA it has been changed. It was decided that immediately making all tiles available was to powerful.

Ah, I see. Thanks!

Imo the lesened version in DA is still too powerful compared to the other alignments.

The combination of +20% morale and the auto-terraform makes choosing neutral a no-brainer to me every time. I may be mistaken in the choice, of course.

I dunno. As evil, every game is over as soon as I research Psionic Laser. Essentially a technology victory, but much, much earlier. But neutrality is much more powerful in a "general", out of the gate sense.

I typically only use conquest as a follow-up to the colony rush to absorb a neighbor or two and establish dominance before gearing up for a real victory plan, but I can see why evil's weapon techs could unbalance the military situation long enough to essentially ensure victory.

I agree, neutral's abilities are quite pronounced, but no longer unbalanced in the new DA version. The good and evil abilities are pronounced, too.
