Title Receives Concrete Date, Preorder Bonuses

Turbine and co-publisher Midway have finally put a concrete release date on their 'Lord of the Rings' inspired MMORPG, The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar. Originally announced for release in 2004 the game was delayed for fine-tuning till 2005, only to be pushed back till 2006. In 2006 publisher Vivendi Games left the project and Turbine decided to self-publish, only to quickly strike a deal with Midway who wanted to get into the PC scene. Now the two firms have selected April 24, 2007 as the release date for the long waited MMORPG.
Along with the release date came news that the companies would be setting up a "Founder's Program" for early adopters of the title. Gamers who preorder Shadows of Angmar, starting February 1, will receive the ability to accept a lower subscription rate, at $9.99, or a lifetime membership for $199, a great buy if you see yourself playing more than 20 months. Turbine and Midway have not announced what the standard fee will be, so exactly how much player's would save is currently unknown.
Besides saving money, the pre-order bonus will also include access to the open beta on March 30, character rollover from beta to the live servers and two in-game items: an Enchanted Cloak of Regeneration and the Ring of Agility.
