Windows Vista? No thanks Microsoft.

Stardock has you beat 100%

Maybe you are hyped up about the new Windows Vista. In fact I am pretty hyped up about it too. Lots of new features they are throwing at us. But come on now. Be honest. Are a majority of you upgrading because of the most talked about features, Aero, and Windows Flip 3D? Are those 2 features really worth the price to upgrade? Absolutely Not! In fact, I think its a scam for Microsoft to charge us more money for something we can get via third party enhancement programs for a cheaper price. Stardock Object Desktop has Microsoft beat 100% In fact look at this desktop at the bottom of the article...... Doesnt it look nice? Looks a lot like Vista. Only cost me $24.95 too. Windows Vista Ultimate? $299? $399? Hmmm..... No thanks! I could buy an XBOX 360 for that price... erm wait a minute, my current PC plays games just fine! Anyway. Don't shell out the big bucks for Vista if all you care about is the enhanced user interface. Its a ripoff.

You are right about Object Desktop providing an enhanced user interface, anything Vista can do in the looks department OD can emulate in XP. At the price it's a real bargain.

However, Object Desktop will be providing some new and exiting customization features for Vista users (let's face it, people are still going to get it, despite the price). That's the reason I will be getting it. That and the fact someone is going to have to moderate all the new Vista content...

I'm already committed to the Vista path because of that. Not only do I not get paid for the work, I have to spend my own money to do the job   I must be mad...

I agree with Jason but having said that I want it! After all I'm only human. We always want what we can't have. Doesn't matter that I don't need it. I still want it and eventually I will have it. Mark my words.

I was reading the CompUSA ad online, and found they have a "Signature Edition"

Nothing special except for Bill Gates Autograph on the package... $259

Hey.... I want a Steve Jobs Signed Ipod and Ill pay overkill for it!

Erm... Never mind. I guess a wallpaper will do.

As Fuzzy Logic said, if Stardock can take XP to a Vista look-alike level, the moon's the limit for Stardock in Vista.

The DWM API has barely been tapped in Aero with things like Flip 3d. I'm excited for what Stardock will be able to do!
