improving espionage

Playing my first DA game, I notice there is no chamge in my espionage rating - (always low) although I have invested regularly and gotten over 15 spies. However, they always get thrown out within 2 turns if I place them on a planet, so I have given up using them except defensively. How does one increase the level under such cicumstances?

By the way, I always crash if I attempt to construct a military starbase or check the full battle option. Anybody else have this problem?

Your espionage rating against another civ is determined by the length of time that your agents have been on one or more of their planets. You have plenty of agents- use them. Place agents on multiple planets; the civ in question won't possibly be able to counter them all, and you will rack up enough time to raise your rating. Alternatively, you can keep replacing your agents whenever they are nullified. You have a large pool to draw from, the AI probably doesn't. And, as it takes time, and bc to train an agent, you will have the advantage.

On the other hand, I imagine it would be cost-prohibitive to achieve max espionage on, say, 9 oppoenent AIs. Unless they had burned all their cheap spies already.

And those crashes on building a military starbase or checking the full battle option should be submitted to the bug report email address. I haven't seen crashes like that or heard of them.
