Subsistence

Boredom...
My mind wanders easily. I fear losing intellect to gain tranquility. I feel my unrest is an uncertainty.
The prospect of the self in my mind has become more defined. I can see myself better but I still feel confined.
I still fear even though it is no longer unknown. The depths of myself I have reached but what I find I'm afraid to condone. Contradictions are never alone.
So if I truly feel this or that, why do I change my mind at a drop of a hat. Convictions are always alone.
Many have said goodwill is divine. But where is goodwill when you draw the line?
It is no longer what I know, only a dream of mine.
Time has taught me reality and life has taught me to want to escape it. If I decide to run, it will only make me decrepit. The light at the end is still only dimlit.
Yet it still warms my skin and begs me to grin. This enigmatic struggle won't end it will only begin.

Dig it. Especially this rhyme "it will only make me decrepit. The light at the end is still only dimlit." Is this just freewritten? Impressive. Only thing I'd do is space it out differently.

Oh yeah, if you ever want to get some ongoing rhymes where we play off each other...battle style or otherwise let me know...I'd be down big time.

Thanks, I'm glad you both liked it. I used to write a lot of poetry when I was younger but I haven't written anything in a while. I actually wrote this at 7 am today before any coffee had kicked in. It took me like 15 min to write it and I have to improve my spacing but I guess feeling tired makes me a little more creative. Suspeckted I wouldn't mind freestylin some time but I got a write a few more to get back in the habit... maybe we could make it into a blog... we will see. I

This says everything my brain has been screaming to me for a long time. Thank you for your genious interpretation of what your mind is up to. You are not alone!

Thanks for the compliment I appreciate it. I'm glad you relate and understood where I was going with this prose. I think it captured that sort of introspective state of mind that I had this morning.

"i fear losing intellect to gain tranquility" ... i like the way you captured that feeling ... i think it's something i recognise and can't put into words myself.

i am at my most peaceful with a still mind, but it's not a space i can feel comfortable in for very long ... it's almost guilt.

i enjoyed reading this ... as usual

Thanks mig, yeah that's my favorite part too. I agree, that is how I feel when I am not thinking, I have no anxiety yet I can't truly be happy unless I am analyzing something...
