Uploading

Wallpapers

I have finished a set of wallpapers and want to know how to upload them for someone to critique. They are a bit heavy though at 4.7mb. Is that a problem?

Do you mean to upload for someone to critique before uploading them to the Wallpaper Gallery? There are places like rapidshare but I can't stand those places. It can be so confusing as to how to actually download the file. I would recommend deviantart, you can upload whatever you want and people can leave comments and all that fun stuff. It's free and you can use it as a playground for whatever work you want feedback on and can keep it all in one location. I'm not sure if they have a size limit, but 4.7 mb should be fine.

Otherwise, you can just use the Submit to gallery function and upload it straight to the gallery.

I submit them but the request is taking so long...over half an hour. I'll get kicked off before I get an answer. I'll have to resubmit them at another time. Like maybe not on the weekend.

Do you mean that it is taking to long for the upload, or has the upload gone thru and you are waiting for them to be accepted. If the later, all skins, walls etc go thru moderation before being posted to the galleries, when an upload completes it tells you this may take as long as 5 days.

Sending the request is what was taking so long. Unfortunately I have a finite time online. Exceed the limit and boom...you get kicked off. Dialup does that I think. I'm gonna try again on Monday. Hopefully it won't take so long. As far as the wait of five days, I expected that. I know any skin has to go through moderation and I'm ok with that. BTW...did another using Deep Paint for the first time...wierdest thing I ever saw. I'll upload that one too. That one may not make it and that's ok...but it is good for a laugh or two.

I just resubmitted them. Could it be that I'm doing this in the wee hours of the morning. Maybe I need to wait for them to open up or something.

They're on their way. We'll see in five days if they're good enough. (Fingers crossed behind back with toes and tongue)lol

Mr. Uvah you should try using Stardock's Stardock Central(known as SDC) to upload. I'm guessing it's the browser you are using that's timing out on your upload attempt. You'll find it here. WWW Link

5 days [or so] gives enough time for enough mods to see the uploads....so that any that are an issue [read 'rip'] can be weeded out before going public.

If we miss any [which happens] within a few more days [usually] enough of the public users have seen them to weed out any others.

At this point in time there are no 'full-time' moderators working 24/7 [or even 8/5], just the 'usual suspects', namely us volunteers.

Currently, wall uploads are unlikely to go through too often outside of working hours as final determination is generally made in office hours, US-time....

I have SDC...never thought to use that. Thank BigDogBigFeet BTW...I'm in no hurry. Even if they're rejected I still had the pleasure of letting someone see my work. Besides...I'm still getting the hang of using half the graphics programs I have.
Too bad photo shop is sooooooo expensive.

Sorry to be a bother but this may be a dumb question. Are permissions required to upload screenshots? From the authors I mean.

Nope, but be sure that the wallpaper is obscured enough so people can't photoshop it or something instead of just downloading it. Giving proper credit is always nice too.

Thanks Bebi Bulma. Credit where credit is due always.
