SEGA has announced that Petroglyph, makers of Star Wars: Empire at War has begun developing an all new RTS named Universe at War: Earth Assault. The title is to be a "combat-intensive RTS" based around the protection of Earth from total alien domination. Universe at War: Earth Assault is set to ship for the PC in Fall 2007 for Europe and North America.
Set in the near future, and using multiple factions, Universe at War: Earth Assault is to employ a system called "'Tactical Dynamics' that allows players to retrain and customize units in the midst of battle to better cope with enemy forces and tactical situations." The seemingly obvious micro-fest will also be accompanied by fully customizable tech trees, allowing players an added control set over the normal static progression of technology.
The multiplayer feature set is to include numerous modes that enable players to capture achievements, rewards, and medals in persistent-style online campaigns.
