FAQ: Demo version

There will be a demo of GalCiv but not until mid April. It's going to take some work to do it because we want to get the file size down to something manageable without it detracting too much from the game.

I recal the fully playable sim city demo in which you couldnt cross railorads/roads/powerlines. BOY did that limit the game :/ But you did get to experience everythign in the game! Something like that would be cool :/ Maybe limit the tech? I dont know

Is there an updated estimated time of arrival for the demo? I heard about this game about 1 week ago, and I've been eagerly awaiting the demo. It is now mid-April, so I was hoping that it would be close! :) I know that patches often take priority though, so I thought I would ask.

seriously its like more than half way through april how much longer till a demo? ive got enough money to buy the game at best buy using gift cards but they dont have it out and the website doesnt list galciv on it? bestbuy usually seems pretty good but often times seems to lose the ball on a couple of things like this. having a game supposed to be realeased on march 25 but them putting it on the shelf on april 1. then running out of the game on april 2. :notsure:

I think one of the things you guys should avoid on the demo version is a turn limit. In the SE4 Demo, I was annoyed to no end by the turn limit, where my empire would just be getting ready to fight and I would have only twenty turns left to do anything. Perhaps this annoyance is what they were seeking, so that I would be annoyed into buying the game, but it had the opposite effect. I saw that I was already reaching the "micro-management critical mass," at turn 100, and I was just getting started. But I will probably buy this game as soon as I've gotten a demo version to see what it's like and make sure it runs well on my computer. I'm looking forward to it!

See, I just found the SEIV demo's tutorial mode to be annoying.

Well after the nasty experience with MOO3 I'll never buy another game that I've not played a demo of first. MOO1 & 2 are 2 of my all time favorite games so I thought I was getting a for sure hit with MOO3 and that game SUCKS A$$ big time. Worst game I've ever wasted my money on and that is not an experience I will repeat. So, I'm patiently waiting for the GalCiv demo and hoping that the game really is a cool as all the reviews say. If so, I'll buy it immediately.
