A 'Kry' out to Kryo

help me get this game home!!!!

Okay, I bought a hard drive enclosure and put the old 40GB drive from my old HP into it and did the old quick format on it. So far, so good. Now when I bring it in to work and hook up here (home uses XP, work uses 2000)I have some issues regarding drive letter. No biggie as I just rename it to match what I named it at home (home I named it F but work likes to call it E). Now I made sure neither machine had Stardock or the game installed before beginning this. First, from home, I installed SDC into the portable drive. Next, I brought it into work, and on a clean computer, ran SDC. For some reason, the info gets downloaded onto my portable drive just fine, but it also goes onto my work computer hard drive (drive C). This is where there are issues. Do I need to make the external drive 'active' or what? I am really at a loss with this as it seemed like it should have been cut and dry. No matter what I do there seems to be 'more' files than necessary (like a stardock folder within a stardock folder)whenever I try to move it from the portable drive to a fixed drive. Please for the love of God Kryo.... HELP ME. Email me if necessary and remember, I am a moron so paint nice pretty pictures if you could, okay?
I figured I would just be able to play from the external hard drive if all else failed. Am I right in my assumption?

Oh, and I almost forgot, due to many 'activation' attempts over the weekend I was 'maxed out' as the error message said, and am still awaiting support to email me with regards to this. I don't know if I will need new serials or not, but apparently this might become an issue as well since you know what I have to go through regarding taking the game home and deleting the sig.bin.
Like I said, I had this game running from home once, but I wasn't getting the game to show up as installed whenever I logged onto SDC from home. Guess I should have left well enough alone huh?

Are you not allowed to install SDC on your work computer directly? If you just want to get the latest version of GC2 and DA back home, the simplest thing to do is just install SDC normally on the work computer, then go into SDC, right click on GC2, and choose Archive Application->Download and Archive. It'll prompt you to get the modules and DA as well, so click Yes.

If you do that, it will download GC2 and DA as a single package you can take home, without installing it there. It just makes an .sdc file in Program Files\Stardock\Stardock Central\BACKUP; just copy those onto the drive, take them home, plug in the drive, and double-click on the .sdc files to install them.

I'm not sure exactly how to go about trying to make SDC run properly from a removable drive, since it'll be missing its registry stuff and such when you take it to another computer, or if that's even possible to do and have it work properly.

Thanks for the quickness Kryo. I will try what you said. Must have done something wrong during a prior attempt to do what you said because things didn't take, but I will try once more.
I just figured I would play directly from the portable drive.

You'd need to manually swap out the sig.bin files each time you went to a different computer if you were to do that as well, but so long as that and the registry keys are in place, it might work (provided you get the game installed on the drive--it doesn't need SDC to run once it's there).
