The History Channel has once again decided to co-brand itself with the game industry, tagging its name to the upcoming strategy game from Slitherine and Black Bean, The History Channel: Great Battles of Rome. The title promises to immerse players into history "as never before" with "cutting-edge gameplay, historical footage and battle simulation." Exactly what historical footage is defined as is apparently left up to The History Channel to decide, which they have, its "30 program clips from the archives of The History Channel."
Aside from the offbeat footage the title will immerse players with all aspect of the Roman Empire. From squashing the barbarian hordes to expanding the empire, players will be tasked with over 100 battles including "the Punic and Samnite Wars, and Julius Caesar’s conquest of Britain." The title will also feature a range of environments, "steppe, forest, desert and coastline, with both day and night lighting," and a massive assortment of battling units, "legionaries, archers, cavalry and even mighty war-elephants" just to name a few.
The History Channel: Great Battles of Rome will be unleashed on PC, PS2 and PSP.
