Crazy Spinning Ships?

my gal-civ glitches

Ok, so I've had this problem since i bought the game and it persists despite patches and essentially makes the game unplayable. There are 3 permutations of this problem.

1. In the main screen when I'm selecting races the little ship in the corner starts accelerating its rotation until it glitches that screen. (this manifests in game when the planet in the upper left hand corner of the colony screen does the same thing)
2. After some time playing the game if i adjust the viewpoint by zooming or moving or whatever and then the screen will blank to the space background, shake for a few seconds and then return me back to some place way far away.
3. Occasionally the screen will just drift uncontrollably.

Now, i don't think this is a graphics card problem. It appears to be something with either my keyboard or mouse. The thing is i have never had any problems with either of these. Is there anyone who has ever had any such problems before? I'm using a microsoft intellimouse and and logitech keyboard. Clean connections and everything. Just for kicks i have a Geforce 7800 GT and AMD 64 dual core 3800+ processor. Restarting the game doesn't fix the problem. Any suggestions?

The super-spin issue is caused by AMDx2 processors (there's been a sticky about it, with the solution, posted in bug reports for almost year now, FYI). Just go grab the latest CPU driver from this page on AMD's site. It's the second-to-last file on the page. Once you have that you should be all set.
