If this is a recent install then Vista will need to index all files. This process should get less and less active over the first few days until all is complete.

All I can say is you must have a lot of files!

not really recent but i never really used it much and i do have allot of files allot i have over 800,000 pictures alone don't even ask about my music and other files like my art work and system files so i have allot of files so that does explain things i did turn on my computer a hr ago and my cpu is jumping from 0-5 and when it does get up there its not for very long maby a few Seconds or so and not like for hrs and hrs. Thank you for the help i can rest now with out always thinking about this thank you
