is it a open beta? or will u need to sign up? if so are sign ups already done?

It's a paid beta. When you preorder the full version you gain access to the beta (and will be charged at that time). You can still take part so long as you preorder before the beta starts or shortly afterwards (probably about a week). Past that and you'll have to wait for beta 2 which is several months away.

So it is simple, when you see a large hole( large being relative) in your bank account, of 44.95(in the US and in some cases +s/h) then you know that the beta is out.

If I had to choose when it will be released, then I would go with either a monday or friday of the last two weeks of march.

We won't put it out right before the weekend. If something goes kablooey, there'd be nobody around to fix it.

In contrast to my pessimism from last month, this time around, Im thinking earlier.

The reason for this is two fold:


1)A month is not the time that someone would push back if there were severe problems, just polish issues. I get the idea they were 98% ready to go anyways, just had some rough edges to sand. Stardock has a record now of releasing earlier than projected dates...they really will try to make everyone happy if possible and they want to get it out there as much as we want to see it.

2) Im busy now with an another project until april, and after playing the demo, I really want to play C&C3, which is hitting around the same time. In other words, I wont have the time to get into the beta, and developers never release when you actually have the time or need the new game, only when you dont have the time and at the same time with a bunch of other games you want to play. Its a universal law.


So, as far as pointless speculation goes, this is mine

So well to add another question to make sure im hearing this correctly when beta comes out they will charge the account, or card or whatever? If so just wanted to make sure so I don't close an account before that happens.

Right. When you preorder, you are not charged immediately. You will only be charged upon release of the beta. ... unless you ordered with those stardock tokens or whatever they are. Those get used up right away.

Its the second to last week of the month so there should be at least an official announcement whether it will be good or bad remains to be seen....

Well, last week Yarlen said "It looks good for next week".
He also said that they were unlikely to release it near a weekend incase anything went kablooie.

If those both hold true, it should be out very soon!

Im at work and working and I just get this urge, I just have to check because somewhere in my head is telling me beta has been released. I have no idea how many times I check. Maybe I'll write a poem about it .
