Windowsblinds transparency without WDDM drivers

I got Windows Vista running at my laptop (Pentium 2GHz with 2GB of RAM and an Intel 915GM video card). My laptop doesn't support Aero because of the lack of good WDDM drivers. Most shaders are supported by my card though.

I renewed my Object Desktop subscription yesterday, to see some new skins on my laptop, but I noticed that when I applied skins with transparancy, they look weird, transparant parts show up sort of black or gray.

Is it possible to enable transparancy support on my machine? I know Aero won't run, but what about normal WB skins with nice see-through stuff.

Help!

Vista requires the WDDM drivers for transparency.  So without those drivers then you will not have the per-pixel transparency.

In that particular sense, any flavor of Windows Vista that can't run Aero is a 'downgrade' from XP, which really sucks, IMHO. I'm buying a copy of XPPro to have on hand. My next laptop may be a Mac with Parallels. Which would bring me full circle - my first computer was an Apple IIe.
