this game seems similar to pax imperia

yeah, that's what i thought as well, except that in PI there was nearly no tactics at all. winning tactic was to spam carriers.

Well, there was some tactics, but it's a bit hazy after not playing the game for so long (firing arcs, point-defense, planetary bombardment ships, etc.). Of course, don't remember carriers being that dominate, and can remember being forced to bring other ships to prevent them being overrun. I do sort of remember the fighter and bomber swarms where usually good against softening or destroying lesser orbiting planetary defenses and minor defense fleets.

Of course, that might be entirely due to the fact I used to play it multi-player, and had more intelligent real opponents that way.

LOL, firing arcs were funny. The ships always pointed bow to the enemy and never which arc has the most weapons on it. I just packed the bow with tons of cap killing madness and the port/starboard/stern arcs with PDSs. That and Carriers with Anvils. Those fighters were the best looking.

i always play against the computer, i was never much for playing against others.

i hope this game is similar, i always liked the mix of building ships and building on planets.

if this game has that in it its definatly gonna be cooler than hw for me.

Well they had to take stuff out because its multi. In pax you had a lot of time even thou it was SP!

But lets all not forget Imperium Galactica II! I loved it, however the game had SEVERE balance issues which ruined the crap out of it in multi :(

Pax is one of my all time favorite games.

As I have stated before on these forums (and other places) I think the best game would be a cross between Pax, MoO and Star!

I had such hopes for Pax II when Blizzard picked up the rights but for some reason it sold them. Sadly enough the sequel Eminent Domain was a major let down and really killed the franchise.
