Help! Huge pauses in game

This game currently is unplayable. :( I downloaded it onto my work machine (Yeah yeah, i know), a p3-450 and whenever i play, it takes up to 30 seconds for any of my clicks to be active. Anyone else running into this?

what size galaxy are you playing on. Reduce to a tiny or small galaxy and make sure the autosave feature is not saaing every turn. I've played on 400Mhz with no problems.

I set it to tiny, and i don't think autosave is a factor, because even at the main menu it is really jerky. The spaceships flying around animation pauses for about 10 seconds before moving again a little bit.

Aha! Found out the problem. User loaded playlists and background loading were turned on. When I turned these off, the game plays without problem.

(I have my MP3's on a samba share, so the game code may be getting confused by this).

Not a problem. :) Now my next problem is I am on my home machine, and I load a playlist, however I see all the titles flash repeatedly at the bottom of the screen without playing. Its very odd. But alas, I must go to bed, so I will muck with it and read more forums tomorrow to see if anyone else had this.

It sounds as if the mp3 player can't find any of your files. Your playlist probably did not save the entire path. When you create the playlist in winamp or whatever program, save the m3u file directly to the playlist directory so that it will save the entire path.

What's a samba share?
