IconPackager Packs don't load

Dear Readers,

For some reason whenever I download .IP packs from here i can't seem to load them onto IP... I get the error of:

Error: No icon package found in the file:
C:\BlahBlah\PostTenebraLux.ip

An when I double click it... IconPackager opens up but doesn't load the package...

But then when using another pacakge such as 'MB-Aesthetics 2' again double clicking doesn't load it up but the program opens.. But if I click and drag it into IP, it will load up..

So not too sure what the problem is...

I personaly using this way:
1/open Icon Packager
2/click on Install new package
3/choose install from disk
4/point it to the directory, where downloaded package is located
5/double click it
6/done(package should be loaded into IconPackager program

Hmmm, thanks for the reply but that is actually how I do it if the IconPackage doesn't open... But doesn't work for this particular one as I get the 'not a valid ip... and well it matches the size of the download.

Seems strange as whenever i open a package from anywhere it will automatically bring up the ip window and give options to install or not, so regardless of what action it is cached inside ip for whenever i choose to use it,the question i have now is have you bought ip and then installed over the top of a shareware version or are you still using shareware and that may be the prob *shrugs* .if in doubt my next action would be to delete ip run ccleaner, restart ,defrag then reinstall and prey

EDIT: Nup it installs as it should re-download the package and try again and is it only that ip that does it or all ,download manually instead of using stardock central maybe that will help ??

SacredCultivator,

You can also check the files manually by doing the following:

1 - Tell Windows to show the file extensions (My Computer > Tools menu > Folder Options > View tab > deselect 'Hide extensions for known file types' > Apply).

2 - Change the downloaded '.ip' file to '.zip' and then extract to the same location using the context menu (right-click file > Extract all > click 'Next' twice and then 'Finish).

3 - You should now be looking at one of the following: (A) a '.icl' file and a '.iconpackage' file, or (B) a bunch of '.ico' icon files and a '.iconpackage' file. If this is the case, you should be able to close the current window and move the extracted folder to the IconPackager directory folder (usually "C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\IconPackager\Themes" folder).

4 - Assuming all has gone correctly in steps #1 - #3, you should be able to start IconPackager and then select, load, and apply the package.

Note - if the same issues occur when trying to apply, then I would suggest using the "Right-click download button > select 'Save Target as' > save locally to My Documents" method of downloading to remove any issue with the built in download functions in IconPackager.

Good luck.

Hehe @Corky_0: Method failed as nothing was 'extracted' so I am going to try redownloading the pack again and trying if that fails I shall try uninstlaling/reinstalling.

EDIT: Seems I just had to reinstlal it >< thanks for hte help

Sorry if there is another thread that matches my post but I also have a problem with opening the packs. My problem however is that it says there are restrictions on some of the icons in the package. I cannot open any whatsoever as they come up with this error or that I need to reinstall the package. When I reinstall it, the problem is still there. The whole error is this, "IconPackager has detected that your current settings restrict some of the icons in this package from being applied. Would you like to apply all of the icons in this icon package?"

To sum it up; I've tried reinstalling the package, reinstalling IconPackager, and applying the icons one by one but it doesn't want to work. Does anyone know how to change the "settings" so that I can use the icons?

Note: When I download icons the message, "The icons for the Windows Classic Start Menu cannot be changed. This is currently a limitation within the operating system, and not a problem with the IconPackager application."
