Playstation 3 Loses Another Exclusive

Capcom has joined other large publishing houses in removing a title from the list of PlayStation 3 exclusives with news that long time PlayStation franchise Devil May Cry will be going multiplatform. The news will see Devil May Cry 4 joining previous titles such as Grand Theft Auto IV and Assassin's Creed on PC, and Xbox 360 in addition to their PlayStation 3 incarnation.

Capcom stated that Dante's newest adventure "will take advantage of each platform's hardware strengths." The Japanese company also stated that the move was sheerly for monetary reasons claiming that it will "help enhance profits."

Some more fuel to the console war fire, but PC gamers should be happy!

Outside of the platform holder offering a sizable chunk of cash, there's really no incentive to keep games on a single-platform anymore. As Capcom's stated, there's more money to be made if you target them all. Of course, that means it'll be interesting to see how each platform holder deals with this, since it's exclusives that help drive hardware sales. Nintendo and Sony should be fairly good in this regard, as they both own a lot of IP and have internal development muscle.  For all the developers Microsoft bought out in the early days, I don't really see them as having much exclusive stuff internally for the 360. Of course, Microsoft has hordes of cash to pay for exclusivity, so it probably doesn't really matter.
