Effects of population Growth and some other questions

I was under the impression that as my population grew, my taxes would grow and my Social, Militay and Research would grow along with it. Is this true or will i just have more money ion the bank, so to speak?

I have noticed on my economy screen if i slide the %-tax bar up or down and leave the individual sliders alone, i see no difference in the total amount spent on the three spending sectors as listed on the top-right under "expenses". I do see my net income go up and down, by why does the amout spent on social, military and research not change?

My question is then, does increasing my %-taxes gice me more in the way of the three spending sectors or just more money to spend?

Now a completely unrelated question that i vcould find out for myself but im not at hiome to test out and well, i guess i'm too lazy lol. If i put troop transports together in a fleet, will i have the total number of troops invade theplanet together? That is, if i have 2 - 1000 troop ships, will i attack twice with 1000 each or once with 2000 troops?

Just taxes. The amount of population doesn't have a direct impact on production.

if i have 2 - 1000 troop ships, will i attack twice with 1000 each or once with 2000 troops?

If they are in a fleet, then 2000M troops.

Maybe not a direct impact, but since my military, research and social spending are paid for through taxes, wouldnt oi get more production with a higer population?

And that raises another question for me...if i have industrial spending at 100%, shouldn't i have ZERO net income? I get it that of all the places where i make money (trade, tourism etc) and where i spend money (production, espionage etc) is it that ONLY taxes go towards prduction (all 3 that is) and everything else is just income vs. spending and the left over is cha-ching!! ?

and thanks for the answer about the troops, thats just what i wanted to hear.

No. You have just ordered all factories to work at 100%, and all labs to shut down. This is not connected to your income in any other way but when you run out of cash to fund the spending and go more than 500BC in negative, all production will cese until you have more than -500BC in treasury.
