Will there be a FREE demo?

I was wondering if there was going to be a free demo, I don't want to reserve the game and play the beta incase it doesn't work (Supcom beta didn't work. Well, it did but extrememly badly and it was probably bad for my computer). One other question: this game won't be in stores will it? I can't find it on the internet anywhere....

The free demo will probably be out 2-3 weeks before the game, or after the game is actually released. If there is going to be one at all?

Also you can order the game here:

https://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/store/

And it will be out in stores also!

There won't be a demo for a month or two after the game is released. Sins will be available at a number of retail outlets in North America, but has Ninja said, it's a bit too early for that to show up.

Thanks!   I knew it was too early for a demo, but online retailers have other games listed that are coming out way later. I'll keep checking!

Yup, it actually takes a surprising amount of time to get stuff like that setup...

what about versions of the previous betas that are now posted for download online? Wouldn't they be like a demo? (are they legal?)

Um, I don't see how it would be "bad" for your computer. Unless it was really badly programed, it shouldn't damage things even when it crashes -- unless your system is simply so old that it had to run the program using virtual, rather than real, memory. In which case most modern games aren't going to be something you want to play.

A demo is something that is very close to the final product so that it gives a fair representation of what you will be buying. That is why if we release a demo it will most likely be after Sins goes gold. The first line of text you see when loading a game in any of our betas is "This is not a demo." They are simply not complete enough or good enough to be called demos.

Any versions of the previous betas that are online are illegal, likely way out of date, broken and probably contain spyware and/or viruses. I wouldn't call them fair representations of the betas so they certainly aren't a fair representation of the final version. I would not consider them demos.

BTW, just to make this clear:

Sins Beta Two was more stable and more enjoyable than most released and "finished" games out there: in fact, every sins version I have played has been as stable if not more so than any finished Blizzard title, ignoring certain "special circumstances" crashes (Save games in multiplayer in beta 3 comes to mind...). Yes, there are more errors than I'd find in a Blizzard title -- for example, the stringID issues which still haven't gotten fully fixed -- but I've had more out-and-out crashes in World of Warcraft than in Sins. A lot more. Even for a finished product, this Beta is not only rock-solid, but darned fun!

Ya in a demo they would probably put in a sample of each race so the betas wouldnt be good for that...lol *cough cough Advent*

Actually I think Kryo would have the ability to delete all recent responses, banishing it to the obscurity of forgotten old threads. Or just tweak the last post date in the forum database I guess.

Unfortunately deleting replies doesn't unbump a thread.
