RPG Vault discovered in a talk to developer S2 Games that Savage 2: A Tortured Soul has been delayed again. The RTS/FPS sequel, also called Real-Time Strategy Shooter, to Savage: The Battle for Newerth is now expected to ship in Summer 2007, back from the original Winter 2006, then March 2007 dates. Beta testing, which was scheduled to begin last summer will now begin in a few weeks, and for the time being, will be restricted to people who pre-ordered the title.
Lead Designer and studio co-founder Marc DeForest commented on the reason for the delay: "Savage 2 should be finished in the summer of 2007. Our initial launch date was winter of 2006. We needed more time for a couple of reasons. The first reason is because we're still a bit green as a studio and creating timelines that we can actually achieve is a bit difficult... as if we're the only ones, and this is just our second game. Secondly, we will not cut corners on this title. We have a vision for a game, and we won't stop until we've hit it."
