Galactic Civilizations Manual

Galactic Civilizations Manual

I was wondering if the GalCiv development team would be interested in a Microsoft Word format version of the game manual?

I decided to OCR the whole thing because I didn't want to deal with loading a 53MB, unsearchable PDF into Acrobat Reader whenever I wanted to look something up in the manual. It should also print much cleaner (and a savings in ink used) with the graphic background removed. I am in the process of doing a quick spell check on the file.

This could also be easily recreated as a much smaller PDF file (with searchable text) if they'd like that format as well. And perhaps indexed to match the table of contents, though I'd have to work on that later tonight.

Just thought I'd make the offer since the current manual looks like a straight scan of the printed manual...

WTG Javascout! Very helpful info, and well laid-out. It's good to see the holes getting filled in; I'd hate to see this game get trashed in the mainstream game media because of it's amateurish manual and in-game spelling errors. I look forward to seeing all the little glitches worked out so it can be the MOO3 killer (which it already is, IMHO). :D

Make the Word version available for d/l using Stadock Central as with the PDF version...

Bad idea ? :notsure:

I can post the Word and PDF manuals I made on a web site so everyone who wants a copy can grab a copy. This is not a new or updated manual, just a clean copy of the one that was included with the game. If anyone at Stardock sees this, please post a reply letting me know if there is any reason I shouldn't post the manual files on the web.

Then the questions is... where should I post them? Would you be willing to host the files on your site Javascout? This would keep resources together in one location until new versions of the manual are available on SDC.
