Gal Civ 2 Gold Edition questions

I bought Gal Civ 2 over a year ago now, and wish to buy the expansion. However I don't use credit cards on line. So I'll have to buy the golld edition to get the expansion pack. I've heard it comes with a rebate for those who already bought DL, just want to confirm this. Also do you get one key for updates with the gold edition or one for DL and DA?

Yes, there's a rebate for owners of the original retail GC2. There is one key that is used for both DL and DA, but if you already have GC2 registered, you can just leave your old key for DL and register the Gold key as DA only.

What is the difference between the Gold Edition and the expansion Dark Avatar? I mean, I know that Gold Edition has both the copy of DL and DA, but why not just buy the expansion seperate from the game? Are their any bonuses that come with buying the two as Gold Edition

GC2:Gold is the only way to get a full retail box with printed manual and such. If you don't care about that and already have DL, then there's no particular reason to not just get DA alone.

If you don't already have DL, then GC2:Gold is your best choice as DL is required in order to use DA.

I wish I had known all this *before* buying my DL at Walmarts; because I gave as much for DL at Walmarts as what teh GC2:Gold would have cost. I am wondering, I have the orignal DL all be it, I bought it new a year after it came out, and I reciently bought DA online, so am I elegiable for the rebate?

Sorry, the rebate is only available in the Gold retail box. There is no rebate for the DA-alone upgrade.
