ship's experience level

how good is a ships experience to have? i mean does it really make a difference?

also, what is considered "good" i have a ship that has 27. does this mean i can expect it to beat a superior opponent? The games been pretty peaceful so far so i havent been able to get more experience.

Does upgrading the ship lose its experience?

Experience lets your ships level up, which just increases their HP, nothing more. Experience and levels are maintained when you upgrade a ship, so it's a good idea to do that with your more experienced ships to keep them up to date.

be careful upgrading ships with lots of experience.... sometimes it is better to keep your new green ships on the front line to be targeted and possibly destroyed rather than wasting your experienced ships.

This requires your experienced ships to always be slightly less threatening than your new ones.

Well more HP is good. So how will i know when I've "leveled up"? At what experience does this happen? At 50, 100, 1000? i olny have like 27 i think but its not that big of a map.

It takes a long time yes,,, in one game i played, i ended up with tiny hulled ships with over 40hp each!!

The reason that happened is because those tiny ships were just logistics fillers in a few of my fleets and never got targeted because they were so weak. Since none of my fleets got completely overwhealmed, the tiny hulled ships survived all that time.
