MPEG Encoder

I'm making dreams and I need an MPEG encoder that actually works with vista decoders. I have tried the integrated Adobe Media Exporter in Premiere, and several free converters online, and they all make my blacks turn out grey and fades the color. That same video looks fine on xp computers. What is the trick? Any special encoders you're using?

Hi
the Canopus encoder works well, I mainly use the media export option in premiere without the problems you mention?

I'll try the canopus encoder... if you go to http://home.centurytel.net/juliekc/xp.jpg and http://home.centurytel.net/juliekc/vista.jpg you can see the obvious quality difference. This is the SAME mpeg file that was encoded by premiere playing on xp and on vista.

What profile do you use in premiere when exporting MEPG?

Addition: Is the Canopus encoder hardware based?

Hi
no Canopus Procoder 2 is a software encoder.

I use the (main concept)mpg2 profile but change a few settings based on past experience and to help playback and low cpu use when I export.
Can see the differences you mention in your jpgs but not sure why and do not have xp here to try.

Hope some of this helps.
