Font Test

Just want to do a test of various fonts. It seems the default font has changed slightly again. It's good to see effort and positive changes occurring on the forum and I do want to express my thanks to the web dev team for all the forum improvements.

However, with that said it's seems that the most recent font change (if there was one and it's not just my deteriorating eyesight) is slightly less readable than the previous font change (which was a great improvement in my mind).

I suppose that these may vary in different browsers and perhaps vary with different browser settings. FYI I'm using IE6 (yes, I know, boo hiss) and I have default browser font settings but I do have Extra Large Font size and 120 DPI set in my Display Properties.

Anyway, in various fonts.

Arial - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Courier New - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Georgia - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Impact - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Tahoma - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Times New Roman - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Verdana - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Size=1

Verdana - The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog.

Again but now in size 2.

It seems that Verdana was and still is the default font but did perhaps the size change? Size 1 (the default) seems to be smaller than it was a couple of days ago, but size 2 is definitely bigger than what I thought the default used to be.

In any case the current font size is way too small for my preference. Would it be possible to make it a touch bigger? Wouldn't need to be quite as big as size 2 though.

Interesting note. If I change my text size in my browser the size 2 text changes size but the default size doesn't.

I wonder if it works if I explicitly set size=1?

Interesting, if I set my font size to 1 instead of leaving it to default, then if I scale my text size in the browser above medium then the size=1 text does get larger but is unaffected for medium and below. The default font size is unaffected by any font size change in the browser.

For my 2 cents the most pleasing size seems to be size 2 when my browser (IE6) is set to "Smaller".

Too much time

Perhaps, but it is a definite factor in readability.

Just edited an explicit size=1 into my original post and it's definite that the default font is smaller than size=1. In fact an explicit size=1 seems to get back to what I had previously expected from default (at least with my default medium browser text size selection).

This is default.

This is size=1.

This is size=2.

In my mind the current size is unacceptable. It's too small to easily read and it won't scale with browser text size settings.

Either make the default font size bigger or at least make it scale with browser text size settings, preferably both. Here's a screen shot of what I see on my screen with the browser text size set to the default medium.

I prefer either Tahoma or Verdana in a size=2.

The font last used was much better than the current font, IMO.
Although, it may have been more the size difference than anything else.
