Updated ObjectDock v1.6 Beta Available

Updated v1.6 now up on Stardock Central - Check "show pre-release versions" to be able to get at it.

Fixes various problems that the previous Beta had. While the last beta was full of new things and changes, this one marks the "settling down" of the furious additions/changes/updates so hoping we're reaching the end of this beta! Let me know how it goes.  A general shoutout by the way, thanks everyone for all the kind words about the new features / abilities, and also a great thanks for the very helpful feedback from all our testers! I'm glad the updates seem to be working out for everyone on the whole

*For those of you seeing some mouse lagging on the prior builds, if it's still happening please try checking all the "temporarilly disable" checkboxes in the new "Troubleshooting Options" dialog, rebooting and trying again. If its gone (hopefully!) try unchecking one at a time and restarting OD+ until you do see the problem. Despite the great help I've been getting still having a very hard time pinning down why that is happening...from what I'm gathering so far it could have to do with reserving the edge of the screen but it's hard to say for sure. I should note, the edge-of-screen feature is subject to other apps actually messing with *it*...if that seems to be it for you try resizing your windows taskbar up/down once or twice with and without ObjectDock loaded and see if you see it happening at all there with/without OD / etc.

Anyways withour further adu, the new build:

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Updates since the last beta: (last week)

1.59a beta
------------
x-Custom icons set for program file shortcuts now automatically sync with custom icons set for windows of a program in taskbars.

x-Ability added (to be shown off in the release version) of ObjectDock to apply included default images for programs that do not have high-resolution icons already included with them. For example, a default Notepad shortcut on XP would use the included custom high-quality icon, but on Vista where a high-quality icon is available for Notepad, ObjectDock will use the actual Notepad icon.

x-New "Troubleshooting" dialog with quick access to disabling features of ObjectDock

x-Fixed various bugs that cropped up in the previous beta, including issue where top-halves of icons on docks on the top/left side of the screen would be unclickable, and where launching url-shortcuts would just launch a browser not actually open the page. Various attempts made to help solve lagging-on-startup problems some users saw.

x-Variety of little glitches fixed involving such things as autohide, drag & drop on zoomer docks, etc.

x-Increased drawing optimization code's ability to manage images. Should result in quicker than ever drawing and decreased memory usage for zooming docks.

Alllllright! I'm going to go ahead and reply to my own post, because I've been able to reproduce the "laggy on startup" issue on one of our test machines. Finally one that shows it!! I also see the mouse get laggy on drag 'n drop...so we're going to go ahead and take a look at that asap too. Now that I have something to test directly against I'd imagine we'll get this patched up relativly quickly Enjoy the new updates/fixes everyone

One possible bug I noticed in the "Tray" deals with MSMessenger.  The first time ObjectDock is run with MSMessenger running, messenger screens can be accessed by clicking/double-clicking the messenger icon in the "Tray".  If ObjectDock is closed and then re-started then MSMessenger screens stop being accessible in the ObjectDock "Tray".

Hey Jeff, I have updated to 1.59a[b].011, for My Pictures, Music etc, is still default folder icon not the specific icon for each from IconPackager.

I also see the mouse get laggy...

Same problem with previous build...

Opera browser (+Flash Website) + CursorXP + WindowBlinds (latest build) = Mouse get laggy only if I pass the mouse over the Flash animation under Opera browser (This buggus problem don't exist under Firefox and Internet Explorer - Also, I don't have this problem with latest stable build of ObjectDock and Opera browser (+Flash Website) + CursorXP).

If a unload ObjectDock beta, the problem is gone. Same situation if a unload CursorXP, no more mouse get laggy.

FYI: Mouse lagginess has been solved, but will be updated tomorrow. I was just only today able to reproduce it on one of our test machines. Definitely solved however! Will be updating tomorrow evening (wednesday).

Will look into the other reports as well, thank you for the messages.

Jeff, I gotta tell you...I love the proportional stretch option on 1.6. Strictly PIMP! I also love the fact that it isn't just left/center/right now (placement), very cool. Who do I speak at for an idea about a mouseover effect? All in all, I'm VERY pleased with all the little things you've done to enhance my favorite Stardock app. Thanks, and keep up the fantastic work.
