Is it possible to sort technology on Diplomacy Screen?

I notice when trading techs with other powers, they are listed very haphazardly, at least to my unskilled eye. For instance, they might sort alphabetically for the first bunch of techs, but as you scroll down the list they are not. I can't figure out if they are supposed to be sorted by power or level of research or what. Can anyone shed some light on this please? Thanks!

Unfortunately the techs do not reveal their level in the tech tree, Which is a pain in the ass. This for me, often results in me trading for a weapons tech thinking it is superior when infact it is not. So unless you have an intimate knowledge of the tech tree.... tough!

Oh also when the AI offers a tech trade, this is a severe pain in the ass because you cannot even escape to check what level the techs are before trading.

In Alpha Centauri, they had the courtesy to add a tech level number to all their techs - simple!
