Blizzard Responds To BlizzCon Vs. QuakeCon Issue

Blizzard has come out to speak on the BlizzCon versus QuakeCon issue that was created last week upon their announcement of the conventions dates. FiringSquad received a reply from a Blizzard spokesperson stating:

I wanted to get back to you and let you know that we had actually booked the venue for BlizzCon last year, and at that time no other related events had been announced. When planning large-scale events, you always hope there won’t be conflicts, but sometimes these situations are hard to avoid.

So Blizzard planned the event before id Software released the dates for their convention. Since Blizzard has known the dates for QuakeCon for months now you'd think they may have cared to shuffle things around. Then again who knows the logistics behind such a move, not to mention if the overlap of people who would actually try to attend both conventions would be worth the hassle.
