The phoenix that is Acclaim has announced that their robot-fighting MMO BOTS!! has reached the million-user milestone six months after its launch. The free and advertising based title launched last November just months after Howard Marks acquired the dead company's name and promised to reinvigorate the brand around the MMO genre.
Acclaim will be holding a special in game celebration to congratulate players and the developers alike, and of course generate some additional press, from May 2-7. The party will let gamers win prizes, earn major points (including an offer on 2 for 1 Acclaim points), and snag some in-game items.
CEO Howard Marks had the following to say, "One million players says it all, our fans want multiplayer social games using the free to play model."
