GNN, Supernovas, Random events, Planetary invasions and management

Hello Sins of solar empire team and community!

Im new to this game so please bear with me..

Have a couple of questions:

1. Will there be any supernova`s, meteor shower, comets or other cosmic things happening? A living galaxy/universe, random events ?

2. GNN, Galactic News Network? News reports covering statistics/power, number of planets owned, upcoming supernova`s, solar storms, meteors and comets. and so on(used in Moo1 if i remember correctly, actually worked and looked cool )

3. Planetary bombardment, and planet killer weapons. Anyone remember the avi from Moo2 where the cargo/gun doors opening, showing you the death ray destroying a planet?

4. Eyecandy? short movies, showing cities/planets after heavy bombardment, nuclear attack, first contact, death of an entire empire, first landing, terraforming and so on.

5. Ambient music. Have you heard the music used in X2 or X3? Amazing, wonderful to listen to, adds atmosphere to the game. ( im sure there will be )

6. How about planetary invasions and planetary management?

I know i know.... sounds like a want this to be a Master of Orion game in realtime. But i would like to see some of what made Moo series so great and replayable be entered in this upcoming title. I can dream right What i have read on this website and seen this far looks amazing.

So, to all the developers, I wish you all the best for your upcoming game, this really seems to be The One! Hope you make alot of money on it, you sure seem to have made alot of friends here , include me in that.

So keep up the good work guys, hope to play this soon...

Some of your questions can be answered by watching some of the gameplay videos made by me and others, just search youtube.

1. we dont know what will happen later on, but we are told there will be alot of stuff happening in a later beta

2. It was also used in Moo2, but it would be a cool thing to have i agree

3. ive asked about doomdays weapons but havent gotten any answers... we will just have to wait and see.

4. None ingame videos atm, or i dont think there will be.. well not like moo2 i believe.

5. Watch the gameplay videos, and you will here some of the music. Its good oh and btw if i remember correct there will be ALOT of music, like 3CD's worth of music.

6. No invasions, you will bomb the planet and then you are able to take the planet.

cheers

Hello Multianna

Thank you for the quick reply. Lets hope some of the things make into the final product. Have just seen the high resolution video made by you ( part 1 ). Looks like you are having way too much fun.  Gonna download more later tonight and watch what you are up to.

There just arent enough of these types of games, well there are some of them but none can really stand up to the old school original Moo`s. They lack the depth or magic or something.

Keeping my eyes on this one and hoping.

Thanks again

Your welcome
it was one of my first games, so i was abit unexperienced of what to do
The sounds are low, but they are there. Ill be making some new once when i get the problem fixed with the game im having atm.

So maybe in beta2 ill be making a longer one

Why dont you join the beta? its tons of unfun as we are not allowed to have fun in the beta1

Join the beta? hmm, think im gonna wait until the game is ready. You guys already on the beta team will make this game super im sure. Havent seen more than part one of your movies. Any movie dealing with planetary management?

well its not like in Moo2, but im going thru some of the planetary management.

Well to put it short you can do:
1. upgrade the planet for more population
2. Build any kind of buildings in space. Like shipyards, research centers, trade posts and so on.
3. Build ships by clicking on the planet, when you have a shipyard.

a supernova would kill the entire solar system, blow most asteroids out of orbit and some of the closer planets, and have a significant affect on nearby solar systems (if its energetic enough it could possibly kill stuff there to)
I'm sure you dont want that

" a supernova would kill the entire solar system "

Hi, cant agree more with you on that one. Would be cool to have some cosmic random events though.

Increased solar activity? Perhaps it would lower the planets' production (power disruption) for a while.

Good idea space voyager. How about comets and asteroids to make the game universe come alive.

AFAIK asteriods are already in the game. I don't know about comets though.

Oh yeah, and increased solar activity could increase AM recharge rate...

Hmmm... even having comet-like bodies just as extra eye candy orbiting the stars for when you zoom out.

I dunno, I wouldn't mind having it hapen to you. It'll give the untold legions on my ships a day off.

There's allready the dust cloud when you zoom out, I don't think adding stuff would be usefull (besides, you wouldn't notice on that scale)

I have sufficient defense against such meagre solar activity.
