'Spore' Devolves To Spring 2008 Release

Anticipated Title Pushed Off Holiday Block

PC gamers will have to wait a little longer for Will Wright's next title because Electronic Arts has broken news that Spore has been delayed to April 2008 at the earliest. Newly re-instated EA CEO John Riccitiello dropped the bomb as part of a post earnings report, delaying what many assumed to be EA's monster release of the coming holiday season.

The title from the creator of The Sims and SimCity has high expectations and EA has blamed the delay on Quality Assurance practices. As with many high-profile releases the company wants to get the best game out as possible with hopes of turning the title into a long-lasting franchise. Riccitiello explained that "We're focusing on quality to make sure we build a franchise that feels more like The Sims, a franchise that we hope...to see around for some time in the future."
