Dreamscene

Weird problem

I downloaded Deskscapes and i can use the default dreams with no problem, when i try to use downloaded ones from this site (such as deepocean) it will not show and expolorer says it has stopped working and restarts. When i try to use a different downloaded dream (aura) it shows pixelated green movements that look really ugly....what is the problem here?

any help is appreciated

Gee let me guess. Do you have and Nvidia graphics card? did you say, yes I do? if yes, then that explains everything since nvidia can't seem to fix the problem that is causing the driver to stop. they actually have people starting a lawsuit against nvidia for this. the only thing you can hope to do is wait and hope nvidia can resolve this issue.....sorry dude that this is happening to you as well....

don't know if this will appy but hey give it a shot......when you install the video drivers nvidia does not overwrite some of their own files that get put into the system32 folder and drivers folder under system32...these are the .dl files and the .sy file. try to replace those manually and reboot and see if you see a difference. also before you shut down put your screen to wallpaper instaed of dream...know a lot of people had this problem so give it a try and hope it works....but better to try with version 158.43...hope this helps and keep posting till we get you fixed...

thanks for the suggestion

i tried cleaning the drivers and installing new ones...no go

i thought maybe it could have something to do with a codec issue? but i tried different codec packs and i still have the same green blobs in the video. what should i do!

thanks for the help

then you have a hardware problem with the vid card, chances are it's not the drivers but instead of a possibly your GPU is over heating or the card is defective all together.i also have a nvidia i got the 7900 GTX and have absolutely no problems what so ever with any dreams.try another vid card if you can and see if it clears up the problem, also try one mem stick at a time and see if that helps out.you may also want to add extra fans to your system case for added cooling also check your cpu temp as well. also to ask a question, when you play video games how are the graphics? are they the same way as the dream? if they are then it's the vid card itself

the performance during games is fine, no distortion/greenness whatsoever. i can also play videos in WMP/divx/quicktime and they all mostly work perfectly

which dreams do work on your system? does this happen if you use dreamscene dreams and not deskscapes? and what version driver # do you have? helps to know all details to nip this in the butt.

I had the exact same problem and about 3 weeks ago on a new HP laptop w/ NVIDIA GeForce 7600 Graphics card...the solution was to Roll Back to the XP NVIDIA driver. After doing so I was able to play all of the Dream Scenes. The new NVidia Vista drivers were causing the issue.

Hope this helps.
