Alright, I don't get any errors loading any DesktopX theme I use, so I'm not sure what's going on there. Whether or not regular XP desktop icons are visible is a configurable selection in DesktopX. So... with DesktopX loaded, right click on the DesktopX icon in your system tray and select Configure DesktopX. The DesktopX Settings panel will appear. Click on the center tab at top named Desktop. Near the center of this panel you should see a hide desktop icons checkbox - uncheck it. Click Apply and click OK. DesktopX will restart itself and you regular icons will reappear. Here is a link to the user's guide you should look through it. There are also links to DesktopX tutorials on the left panel of this page have fun! WWW Link

Which DesktopX Themes have you attempted loading?

Many DesktopX Themes hide the icons in preparation for initializing their own customized interface.

If you could provide more information about what you're loading, we could work to resolve what issues you're currently encountering.
