Gas Powered Games has ceased all development of DirectX 10 features for their recently released RTS Supreme Commander according to a recent forum posting from 'SonofShagrat.' GPG cited bad timing as the main factor behind their inability to add DirectX 10 capabilities to the title before shipment. Shagrat stated that "the availability of DX10 hardware, final releases of Vista itself, and the solid drivers simply did not line up with the necessary time frames in our development cycle."
Although the capabilities were rumored to be in the upcoming patch the forum post plainly states that the game, including expansions, will NEVER see those features and that GPG has decided to use those resources on graphical updates that will reach a far wider audience. Gas Powered Games is still careful to note that they will still be supporting DirectX 10 saying that they will be "integrating this exciting technology into future projects."
