Can you install the beta and still run the latest production DA?

Probably not. If you'd try anyway, be sure you archive the previous version of the game before patching it with beta. There's no "rollback" once you patch it, and don't have the archive.

Not directly. The easiest method if you want both is as Itzok says, archive 1.5x3 so you can restore the archive if something goes wrong with the beta.
