dreamscene problem

some dream dont work all of a sudden

I was hoping someone could help me out with my dreamscene problem. All of a sudden my dreamscenes wont work for me. I have tried doing a system restore, reinstalling dreamscene and re downloading the dreams, all without luck. When i click on the dreamscene the screen either goes black or doesnt change from the static wallpaper i have on. Any suggestions would be very helpful!

Can you please post more information about your system configuration? What version of video drivers do you have?

Im using ATI MOBILITY RADEON Xpress 200 series. Im on a 1 gig memory laptop. The strange thing about my problem is that a couple of the dreams i have still work. i cant find anything unique to the dreams that do work so it is hard to diagnose.

I have duel G8800 GTX cards in SLI mode and I also have issues with DreamScenes. My OS is 64bit Vista Ultimate. For about a week I was able to run it with the vert sync off but then the OS downloaded an update for the video drivers and everything died again.

Oddly enough the can run the planet earth one for every with no issues just not any other one including the default MS ones.

0563814, for your problem, I'd suggest downloading a WMV and an MPG, try setting the desktop to each of these. Chances are, you've got something wrong with one of the two encoding formats. Also, try using the "Ovals" DeskScape, and see if Dynamic Content is working for you. Have you installed any additional codec packs? ffdshow has been known to cause a few issues, and if you search the forums, people have posted changes you need to make to the settings to get it working correctly.

1Spartan, have you tried disabling SLI (just to help diagnose your issue)? Does this help at all? And can you tell what version of the NVIDIA drivers you are running? Try right-clicking your desktop, and see if you have an option for "NVIDIA Control Panel". If so, click that. In the menu bar should be "Help", select "System Information". The first line of graphics cards details will be "Forceware version:", please post this number.

It is none of those, Right-click on Computer, click properties, down the bottom left of the window under "see also" click performance, up the top click on adjust visual effects, make sure "Show translucent selection rectangle" is checked then click apply then ok.
DONE. that worked for me because i had most things unticked to get more performance so i just went through all of them until i found what one it was that enabled dreamscene to work.
thanks
