Download speed is really bad

What's up with the download speed via Stardock Central. I have a cable modem and yet the most i get is a 28k download speed...if i'm lucky. Trying to download anything whether its galciv 1.01 or Corporate Machine 1.2 takes forever. DGM was much better than this at downloads.

i tried 3 times yesterday before i finally got it; the download kept stalling, and at ~30k/s, it was several hours each time through... however, the third try was later in the evening, around 9pm mtn, and i got the game in less than an hour. perhaps after peak hours are done, it will speed up again.

I had varying speeds up to 80kbs. I guess I was lucky, got the game in about 45 minutes. I downloaded the multi media later on, overnight. But the game plays fine without the multi media.

Yeah, today is much worse then yesterday so far. I am on a T1 and at 15k/sec

May I suggest using the direct download option they made available last night? My SDC speed were atrocious as well (on a T1), but I got the whole installer in about 15 minutes (at ~550kb/s) this morning.

You guys are lucky to have those kind of speed. It took me about ~25h to download the whole game at speed of 5k. Be patient hehehe.

I don't think this is a difference between SDC and any other method of downloading. I suspect the Stardock servers are swamped, and may continue to be so for the next few days. Stardock has told us some of what they did in anticipation of the load they were expecting starting yesterday, but I don't think they realised just how popular Galciv was going to be.

I also think this problem will be short lived.

The California server is slightly less swamped - you can get it by going to Tools/Settings/Connection/Current Server/US - California
