Uninstalling Windows Vista

I just got a new computer from Dell and for the life of me i cannot figure out how to uninstall Vista. I dont care if i lose everything on the computer. I cant stand the operating system. I tried to install my printer (which is vista compatible) and it just crashes everything. I have everything i need to install XP, i just need to know how to get rid of Vista forever.

There is no option to "uninstall" Vista. If you wish to use XP instead, simply place the XP cd into your computer, restart and boot to the XP disk. From there, follow the on-screen instructions. You'll want to either delete and recreate your partition, or just format over the existing one.

You will lose everything on your computer. Now, depending on your expertise, there are other was of "putting Vista aside" and installing XP. But that's more for advanced users.

Good luck.

If you follow the link above, this will tell you how to install XP and keep Vista. I've had the same problems too. None of my printers or scanners work - but I'm gonna hang on to Vista until Microsoft bring in the necessary changes and updates. I know how disappointing it is. All the best

You should better blame the Hardware-manufacturers for missing drivers. It is really an old 'Hey there, we won't do any new drivers but hey, just go buy new hardware from us' strategy in most cases that wasn't even first introduced with Vista originally...

first off download the latest drivers for your printer, then before installing right click on the file and select properties on one of the tabs you will see compatibility try selecting the file to run in windows xp compatibility mode. failing that go to printers folder right click on the shortcut and select run as and tick administrator, this should solve any problems and a little quicker than formatting and reinstalling.

the only way to get vista of your new system is a few simple words...format the HDD...technically there is NO way you can get vista to uninstall as it is a "fresh" install of the vista OS.you have to format your HDD and do a fresh install of XP
