What's new in 1.61.090?

I just noticed that there is an official release moving DA from
1.60.089 to 1.61.090.

I tried the earlier beta to 1.6 and noticed a slow down not in my framerates but in operations like saving and getting action from buttons. I don't know if 1.61.090 is
substantially different from the 1.6 beta.

I just got an email announcing 1.6. Of course there has been an official release of
1.6 for a while but then using SDC I noticed 1.61.089 and a new height map release.

As far as I'm aware 1.61 is just the same as the 1.6a patch Cari posted on the forum last week.

I installed that fine patch that helped out us video cavemen. But I just ran SDC and it wanted to update me to new versions of both DA and DL.

Should the few of us who tested the patch let SDC do its thing or should we wait until the next official release?

Also, I am in the early stages of a gigantic map. If I should let SDC replace my manual patch, please confirm my guess that it is best to wait until after I finish my current, beautifully performing game.

It won't actually change anything but update the version number if you already had 1.6a, so it should be just fine.

It's basically a minor update for users who had problems with video on 1.6. It's an optional update.

Has anyone else running this update on a sub-spec vid card noticed that the autopilot routes seem to have disappeared from the minimap?

The change isn't really dragging down my play experience, but it was interesting given how much my overall video performance has improved.

Sure you haven't just gotten that option turned off? It's one of the icons to the right of the minimap.

I thought that was what I'd done, but I toggled it across a couple of game sessions and saw no behavior change.
