in my home system, as i didnt have enough fleet points, to build more.
Well i did have one fleet there, lost all but a KOL. It couldnt take out over 20 frigats alone.

As we speak, i wiped them out from the face of the univers..
Take that you pirate scum

Having 3 fleets with only 270 fleet points isent much hehe.

One large fleet near my homeworld.
Another protecting an asteroid from pirates.
One fleet in another star system, to colonize and defeat pirats.

30 frigates jump outsystem, 5 frigates jump back insystem. Shark outside the system.

Well chiefy, it sounds to me like you be needin more planets or that you should be upgradin your fleet capacity.

heh try fighting 30 corsairs plus a support fleet of jolly roger flying frigs (damn i wish i had a screen of that fight) There should be a YARR! whisper

i use 1, or 2 big fleets, and spam planetary defenses since they cost no upkeep anymore. Use the max tactical slots. That alone will defeat most pir8 fleets unless you are like me, and accumulate a 15000 credit bounty on your head hence all the pir8 clans uniting to lay the smack down.

15000

Lucky! I had 18,000 credits on my head just because I took one asteriod! Wow the AI like revenge! Good thing pirates were off!

They do? i got 0 bounty on me, and i see like 20-30 pirates attacking my systems for the sports..

Pirates are fun except when they try and kill three asteroids at the same time. Right now im being invaded right and left by pirates

I don't think you got what I said. I turned them off for the game, on the menu that has the (blank amount) resorces, size galaxy, etc. (not pirates, but mauraders. Mauraders attack you, "pirates" are in "neutral" systems. You can't turn off the pirates).

they are super agressive, a group of pirates blitzkrieged through 4 periferal planets of mine and attacked my capitol planet with incredible forces! I nearly lost my capitol! (thankfully 2 gauss cannon cover fire, 3 or so LRMS frigs and the Ton Illustrius of my ally kept it alive)
after that I researched crisis recovery immediately. god that was fun/terrible.

The irony of all this is that the way the pirates behave is exactly the way i wish my AI opponents behaved. Aggressive, Relentless, and Group Jump in with a nice mixed fleet of caps, and frigs. The Normal AI still has a bad habit of suiciding 1 ship at a time by not group jumping if they even attack at all.

BTW the "Insurgency" research spawns none other than Psycho Rampaging Pirates! I found out the hard way with no marauders checked. The good thing is they dont attack your systems. Only your opponents. However they will attack you if you jump in the same system they are fighting. Insurgency is the "I Win" button for this beta, because the AI cant handle 30+ ship pirate attacks in multiple systems.

then weaken the insurgency

insurgencies shouldnt hurt your opponent, they should simply tie up his resources if he expands too far.

It seems once researched it is all automatic, and spells doom for the AI for they will suffer the same relentless pirate attacks that you would if you had a 15000+ bounty on your head. The AI had at least 10 systems out of a 20 system map under their control when i finished researching insurgency (i was in firm control of 10 myself). When i started attacking there was at least a 30+ ship pirate fleet in each system i attacked. I managed to take 2 of the 10 systems (fighting both the AI's defenses and the pirates) then it was game over. The pir8s took the rest. That would mean that a pirate fleet spawned in every system the AI held.

Your right this should be nerfed. It should spawn just 1 fleet at a random location in the AI's territory, be dependent on the size of the empire, and be powerful enough to hinder, but not destroy them. Like schem said the idea is to keep them busy not wipe them out.

Insurgents do seem a bit too dangerous for the AI. Playing with marauders off, I got insurgency first and they apparently finished off the last AI held locations in my home system for me (two asteroids, I'd already taken all his planets). Someone else also researched it around the same time and I started getting periodic raids myself, but after losing one asteroid I upped the tactical levels and set up hangars everywhere and that seems to handle them well enough.

When I made it to the other system though, I found not less than three or four juicy planets had been wiped clean by the pirates, and one of the AIs in that system was completely gone (judging from the strength of the other two AIs there, it wouldn't be a stretch to lay the blame on the pirates).

Same here Kryo, its quite overpowered. ALSO I'd like to actually see something be done, maybe a report saying uprising on planet XXX or put a little uprising icon on planets that are being effected...

They still do that on hard too, and same here, I wish the Skirmish AI also attack with the ferocity that the Pirate do because right now as ironically as it sound, Pirate is the only one who can sufficiently pose a threat.

I agree on that , I think the enemy AI's spend all their money on my bounty so that the pirates do all the fighting, lol...

could you guys implement a stripped-down replay system (where you see everything)? it would make this sort of analysis FAR easier...

Now, does insurgency stack. Like, if there were 10 players in a game, and they all researched insurgency, would they all have 9 times the marauders coming after them? That would be an interesting way to lose.

With the replay function still busted it will be hard to tell what actually happened. I played another game, and i held off on researching insurgency until after the AI researched it. During the end game it was the pirates that were the only serious threat to me. I had to fortify every system i owned or risk losing it, because they spawn randomly at any given system. Meanwhile my fleets were fighting both the AI's defenses and the pirates that spawned from my insurgency research. I have yet to see the AI build an effective fleet. It doesnt matter what difficulty i set i will see maybe 1, or 2 AI ships jump into one of my systems, and i never see any ships when i invade their systems. Once in a while and enemy frigate or 2 will jump in to try and defend, but that would be vs a major cap ship fleet, and pointless. I think the AI isnt as good in this beta as it was in beta 1. The AI just wont muster up a fleet and attack you. After the AI loses its flagship thats all she wrote. Like i said before i would like the AI to be as aggressive, and coordinated as the pirates.

There are 2 levels of insurgency you can research. The 1st level (this is just speculation) spawns small pirate fleets (mixed bag of frigs). The second level will spawn full planet killing 30+ ship corsair/siege/support fleets. I had to fight one of these big fleets when i invaded and AI sys with insurgency lvl 2 researched.

Im not sure how it stacks up. Just 1 players lvl 2 insurgency is pretty devastating. I would hate to think if 3 or more players can stack.

Remember, most of the time when playing against others I doubt every race will have the Insurgency option. Well unless everyone chooses the TEC...

I fear when the full game is out, I will be one of the few faithful of the TEC.

the pirates in my last game where ignoring me guess they didn't want to tangle with my 20 ffs and flag ship
