Question and Request

I have been looking forward to playing this game after hearing about it many months ago. Typical that it would be now that I find it has a beta when I have no money! I will almost certainly purchase it on final release though because I love the idea of it.

Anyway, my question is...
As a part of the multiplayer components, and considering the size and scale of the galaxies, will there be an option for multiple players to play as the same faction/side, sharing planets and ships and everything? Essentially, multiplayer co-operative at the very least, but rather than have two players on two teams working together, two players on one team on one faction.

If this is not the case, will there be any plans to add this function? I feel it can potentially extend the lifespan of what sounds like an epic game further and I hope to see it in the final product.

I don't believe this is planned, as giving two or more players control over one race/team would not work out very well. As you mentioned, however, players will be able to work cooperatively on the same team as either the same or different races (however you decide to set things up).

I believe there was some talk in the past about a shared control mode as in Starcraft like you're talking about, but the general opinion was that such modes are confusing and very rarely used.

On a related note, you can give resources or credits to another player who you have an alliance with.

Yes, it would very much be like Starcraft It would be fun because it allows one of you to focus somewhere while someone else can build up reinforcements to give to the other player.
It sort of allows you both to do what the AI does and work in multiple areas at the same time, and can be a very fun experience if done properly. Of course there's probably not a market for it online as other players want to have their own experience without sharing it. It would be awesome to see it in the game though, maybe through a patch or something. There's nothing quite like a genuine co-op experience like that against the AI or other players.

Eh, my brother and I had some fun in starcraft once upon a time, where I'd control the economy while he did the warfare. I'm very much an economy and bigger hammer player, while he was precise control and micro player. Worked well together, IMO
